Character and Background Info

1. Your Character Name: Emelie

2. Link to your armory: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Cenarion+Circle&n=Emelie OR http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Cenarion+Circle&n=Daneia

(I think I am a better mage than ele shaman...but on the other hand, I raid on my other server as a mage so I'd be happy to raid here as the shaman if that is more useful to the group.)

3. What is your talent spec & why did you choose it? I like being a fire mage. I raided as arcane and frost in vanilla WoW, then switched to fire in BC and found that I enjoyed it a lot. It's also my understanding that managing cooldowns as an arcane mage is a little bit trickier than fireball spec, and I need as many of my wits to be devoted to what's going on around me during a raid as I can!

4. What is your age? I'm over 40, do I really need to be more specific than that? :P

5. Who do you know who is currently in the Guild of Guilds? Infinite Serenity folks.

6. How much of Ulduar(10/25) and/or Trial of the Crusader(10/25) have you completed? I have completed all of them on one character of mine or another, except Algalon in Ulduar. I have not set foot in heroic ToC.

7. Why would you like to raid with us? Since IS stopped raiding, I've been looking around for a guild whose raid times won't overlap with my raid times on my other server. I haven't found one! Celowyn recommended that I apply to this raid, and since it is only the Sunday raid that clashes with my other server, and on my other server we tend to do alt runs on Sundays, I think the times will work well.

8. What guilds/raids have you ran with in the past? Please list former GM's and raid leaders that can provide a reference for you. On this server my only raiding has been on Emelie with IS. Emelie was a non-raiding member of Warcraftier. Back in vanilla WoW I raided with Soul Reckoning on Emelie, and in the LO raid group with Emelie before that, and on my druid (Rubella--she's been transferred to Steamwheedle since that time) with Bound by Blood. But I don't think any of those guild leaders are still on the server...plus it was so long ago not sure how much they would even remember me!

I have mostly raided in the past several years on my other server, Steamwheedle Cartel. There I was a longtime member of Pantheon (Shaorin is the GM). Before and after Pantheon I have been a member of Argent Exodus there, and Craft is the GM. Cecili is the name of my mage and main on that server, although Daneia used to be Danei on Steamwheedle and for a while at the start of LK she was my main for raiding in Pantheon.

9. What other gaming experience do you have aside from World of Warcraft (RPG's/MMORPG's/Consoles/etc.)? I've played PC games since...brace yourselves...1984 when I got my first Apple IIc. I have never gotten into console games. Before WoW I played UO for several years, and before that lots of single-player PC games including the Ultima series, Wizardry, the Zork games, and many others. Once upon a time I wasn't too bad at Ms. Pacman--back when you had to go to a bar or a gaming center to play it.

Raiding Questions

1. Our raid times are Wednesday 6 PM to approximately 9 PM server time and Sunday 5 PM to approximately 8 PM server time. Do these raid times work for you? Yes they do. As I mentioned, my other server mostly does alt raids on Sunday nights and I"m willing to forego that to raid with COD. I should also mention that I occasionally travel for work and when that happens I am not likely to be able to raid. That would be highly unlikely to occur on a Sunday but could be an issue for Wednesday raids occasionally--but on average no more often than 1 week out of 4.

2. What consumables do you typically bring to a raid? Frostwyrm flasks, fish feasts if I have them, potion of wild magic or potion of speed (depends on which herbs I have more of), firecracker salmon. And of course 40 arcane powder and 10 each of portal and teleport runes.

3. What types of boss encounters are your favorite and why? Give an example. I like complex boss encounters that require coordination of the raid, but don't depend too heavily on RNG. For example, I think the end bosses of Black Temple and Tempest Keep (and to a lesser extent Kel Thuzad and Yogg in this expansion.) It feels like a lot more of an accomplishment if you've had to struggle for a while until you get all the steps just right...and not something that is trivial (like a lot of Naxx and even ToC regular has quickly become) or heavily dependent on a lucky break.

4. What types of boss encounters are your least favorite and why? Give an example. I think I answered it above! :)

I don't like fights that feel like it's dependent on luck--especially in 10 man ToC, for example, the faction champs fight can be MUCH easier or harder just depending on which grouping of opponents you get that week. Or the theater event in Karazhan when it first came out--my raid group got Romeo and Juliet for the first 5 weeks in a row and that fight was just about impossible to do back then. We did finally get it but if we had gotten either of the other fights we would have had them down MUCh sooner.

5. What mods do you use, and how do they help you? For raiding, I use the usual suspects: Omen, DBM, Decursive. A couple of mods to keep track of my cooldowns: Need To Know and Event Horizon. Also Altoholic (because I am one!) and ItemRack and a few others that are bar mods and that sort of thing. Oh, and Cartographer.

6. For awarding loot, we use an open bid system, with the class of the lead bidder displayed. We award one point for on-time raid attendance, one point for raid participation, and one point for each boss kill. Is this a system you are okay with? That's fine. It sounds like the system IS used, which I thought worked very well.

7. What are your areas of strength in a raid? I think I'm easygoing, dependable, prepared. I do my very best to do what I'm supposed to in any fight.

8. What area do you think you could improve the most in? What steps do you take currently to improve your own performance? Well, my reaction times are not the fastest. There is not much I can do about that! I find that once I am familiar with a fight, I do fine, but it may take me a little longer to get familiar with it than it does some other people. There is not much I can do about that, but I try to use whatever mods I find that can help me, and macros that can help, and that sort of thing.

8. What are the overall goals you look for within a raid? I have had my share of server firsts on Steamwheedle, and while that is fun, what I really enjoy most about raiding is just the sense of group achievement. I like a raid that is well-organized and where people can be depended upon to show up when they say they will and to do what the raid leader asks and that sort of thing. And I'm a pretty quiet person and I play WoW a LOT of hours, so I would like a raid where I can get to know some nice people to run 5 mans with and stuff outside of raid times.

9. Within the Guild of Guilds, we strongly believe that everyone's personality goes a long way toward our overall success. What do you feel that you bring to the table in that respect? I dunno, I think I answered that above too. I'm pretty quiet, easygoing, dependable...okay, maybe boring!

10. Is there anything beyond these quetions you'd like to add? Do you have questions for us? No, I am sure I will find out more as I talk to you. I understand that there isn't room for more in the raid at the moment but I would like to be considered for whwnever an opening for ranged dps does occur. If there is anything else you want to know about me, please ask. And thanks for considering my application!
